Heat treatment:

Leo-Damascus®:
With correct heat-treatment the utilisation and final hardness is over 63HRC, harder than glass. Hardening in vakuum or inert gas with 850°. Holding time for 5 minutes. Cooling rate the same like hardening with oil. For the changing of the remained portions of austenite a cooling at -90° or annealing at 140° can be done. Afterwards there should follow an annealing process at 150° to activate annealing of the not annealed martensit (the not changed austenite remaining from deep cooling or first-annealing).

Eurofighter-, Tirpitz- and Meteoritendamascus:
With correct heat-treatment the utilisation and final hardness of this steel is over 60HRC. Hardening in vakuum or inert gas at 820°. Holding time up to 5 minutes. Cooling rate the same like hardening with oil. For the changing of the remained portions of austenite a cooling at -90° or annealing at 170°C can be done. Afterwards there should follow an annealing process at 180-190°C to activate annealing of the not annealed martensit (the not changed austenite remaining from deep cooling or first-annealing).

Hardening without inert gas or vakuum ist possible at 820°C, too. The holding-time should take up to 3 minutes, quenching in warm oil, then annealing at 180°C for 2 times for 1 hour with intermediate quenching on room temperature.
